Are you doing something that you love?

Finally, I'm getting to do what I've always wanted to do...
Not only for myself but also for my clients too.

Many of us have had to settle for work which isn't exactly what we'd hope to do in our business lives. As a result, many of us have had to compromise to make a living.

As many freelancers know, this is a common occurrence, settling for work within your sphere and that we're very capable of doing but would rather not do… just because it pays.

That's why it's crucial to figure out what we really want to do - to start living the life we enjoy that reflects our values, goals and needs.

When I was made redundant from my dream job, I vowed to move on and do exactly what I wanted with my photography; personal work, which I would publicise, exhibit and sell to make my living.

Then reality strikes; life as a professional photographer isn't easy, and I could have given up my pursuit of (photographic) happiness over the last 12 years on many occasions.

But I've managed to persevere, doing the things I haven't loved working on but still holding on to the hope that someday I will be free to do and accept the kind of work I want to do.

Over the next series of posts, I will elaborate on some of my latest exciting work. Plus, I've made some great new connections and met with some unique people, hearing their stories and, of course, getting to photograph them too.

What about you? Are you still striving to do what you truly love doing?
